We the people need jobs. Domestic manufacturing on a smaller scale (i.e. - community clothing co-ops) stimulate the economy where we need it most... at the "street level".
Amazon received 30+ million dollars to create around 400 jobs in South Carolina, half of which were filled by folks from Seattle. Amazon is an online sales channel for mostly imported goods.
