We have backlog of legal immigration applications. We want immigrants who want to become citizens. We need jobs for people who have done this work in the past and American citizens who could do this work. I propose doubling the number of people who work for Immigration on a permanent or on a temporary contract basis to deliver on our promise to the immigrants who have been waiting, and encourage those who have bypassed the system in recent years. To speed the process of recruiting and hiring, priority should be given to anyone who has been laid off from one of these jobs and people with gov't clearances. All other applicants should be US citizens for at least one year and pass necessary background checks.
