I find it abhorrent that the supposed "most developed civilization" in history spends more money on war than peace. Instead of pouring funding into weapons and their related industries, our government should create a jobs program that promotes the industrialization of a weapons disarmament. Educating, training and providing an opportunity for people to put their life's purpose towards this effort would be a true historical achievement that will usher an era of peace onto the world.
Empirically, jobs programs in eras of economic depression provided like those committed to National Parks development and others aimed at infrastructure have created economic growth to overcome the most dire economic hardships. Benevolence apparently has a great exchange value and should be put into practice.
