Like many college graduates who can't get a job because of the economy, but still are responsible for paying back their loans, we should offer other options. One way is to offer, both established and newly-credentialed teachers ( newly also includes those that received credential, from 2008, for instance, but never had opportunity to get a job, due to cutbacks) after-school teaching positions. Even if this is a part-time job, one's student loans can be waived or paid off automatically as an incentive over a period of 10 years or so. Benefits and other incentives could be added, too, even thought part time.
