According to Coto (2012) with the Associated Press, approximately 2000 workers loss their jobs in the month of February. Hovensa oil refinery employed 1200 people directly from St.Croix and 950 contract workers. This closing has caused a substanial blow to the U.S. Virgin Islands economy. It is stated, "Hovensa generated $60 million a year in revenue for the government". What is going to happen to the people that have worked in this refinery for over 30 years?

In recent months Licensed Vocational Nurses and Certified Nurse Assistants have loss their jobs due to hospital administrators seeking Magnet status. This is another blow to the economy. What is going to happen to the nurses that no longer qualify to work in this hospital?
