Create a "Law for America" program

Created by J.C. on April 03, 2014

I petition my government to create a “Law for America” program, where lawyers from around the country can apply and serve their country while paying off some law school loans. The program will work similar to the successful “Teach for America” program, where lawyers will live and work in low-income areas, providing legal services for indigent clients. These services will vary and include immigration, domestic, and criminal issues. In return, those lawyers will be provided a living and housing stipend and have their government loans, which come due during their time working in the program, paid off. This program will help (1) our citizens get access to legal services, (2) provide unemployed lawyers with valuable skills and work experience, and (3) restore America’s image of lawyers.
