The gender pay gap in America is continuously growing and is affecting millions of single mothers and children everyday, closing the gender pay gap would positively affect a very large amount of women and children. 162 million out of 318 million people in the U.S. are women. That is 162 million women being unfairly treated with unequal rights, making an overall annual difference of 11 thousand dollars less than men. There are five times more single mothers than single fathers, so the fact that women make less is backwards. Employers paying women less, must have severe consequences, and women will begin to gain back the rights they deserve. Closing the gender pay gap would not only promote equality and freedom, but also lower the poverty rate significantly.
