Create a law that forces healthcare service providers to display the prices for those services.

Healthcare spending in the U.S., at 15% of GDP, is higher than in any other nation. Each year over two trillion dollars is spent on healthcare. Yet, our healthcare system is plagued by inefficiency and poor quality. Most healthcare providers are privately owned businesses, and are run as such. But, unlike other businesses, healthcare providers do not display prices for their services so that consumers could compare them and make better informed decisions. As a result, there is no competition among these providers, and a lack of such competition contributes to higher costs for consumers. Healthcare costs are a national issue, and should be addressed by the federal government. A law requiring providers to clearly display prices for services is long overdue, and necessary for consumers.
