create a law to make it illegal for news media to publish the names and life stories of people who commit mass shootings

Created by J.S. on December 14, 2012

Over the last several years we have all had the unfortunate experience of witnessing numerous mass shootings resulting in the deaths of many innocent men, women and children.

The most recent incident in Connecticut involving an elementary school is truly heartbreaking. What we must ask ourselves is, what motivates these individuals to commit such terrible acts on innocent children?

There are obviously many surrounding factors in these incidents, but it is my belief that a major contributing factor is the recognition these individuals receive after committing such disturbing crimes on innocent people.

By broadcasting these individuals names and life stories for weeks after the incident, we only give others with similar issues a platform to be recognized. Sign this petition to agree.
