The purpose of this petition is to persuade the government to offer better transparency of who is actually influencing the decisions made by all federal employees and elected officials. The intent of the Physician Payments Sunshine Act, enacted as part of the Affordable Care Act, is to establish transparency in the relationships between physicians, teaching hospitals, pharmaceutical and medical device manufacturers and group purchasing organizations. Many government employees and elected officials receive food and beverages in the workplace and special invitations for work trips or leisure. We request better transparency such as a single website with a searchable database be established so constituents are more informed about their candidates and who is actually influencing their votes.
