Create a Law that Prohibits Bullying

Created by A.B. on September 22, 2011

Bullying often encompasses behaviors such as verbal threats, harassment, intimidation, and assault. The schools themselves usually deal with these issues on their own by giving the accused bully suspension or at most expulsion. The victims of bullying rarely press charges against their bullies, and if they do, the bullies usually receive a “slap on the wrist” because they are often juveniles.
There have been several children this year alone that have killed themselves as a result of being bullied. Yet there is still no Anti-Bullying law. The law I propose is that any person convicted of bullying, regardless of their age, will serve jail time and if they are in school with their victim, the bully will be forced to change schools.
