Create a law protecting rape and abuse survivors from their attackers claiming parental rights to their children.

Created by L.L. on April 05, 2013

Hundreds of thousands of people are victims of sexual crimes each year and a good majority of them are women. In certain incidences women are raped and impregnated by their attacker. They willingly choose to have the child. However, the attacker is able to sue for custody and visitation rights to the child. Proposing a law that requires the attacker to pay child support without having any form of legal rights over the child will prevent further emotional suffering on part of the child and the victim. Also, this law would be for people who are in abusive domestic relationships with children shared between the two parties. The abuser, biological parent or not, should not have visitation rights over the child if they are abusive to the other parental party.
