Homework is the main cause of detest for education to students in Middle and High Schools, and for good reason. Homework causes tension between families, causes students to become overburdened and frustrated, and takes away from their social and study time. Homework has shown in multiple studies to actually lower performance, and giving more of it has not helped. Homework also diminishes interest in learning, and causes many students to drop out of schools. So why hasn't this been addressed yet? I believe this is because we are afraid of change. We are too comfortable, and reluctant to respect the students' opinions. But I believe that this fear of change, and lack of respect too, must change. Lets fix the cause of the next generation's misery once and for all, and assign less homework.
