We all enjoy using social media such as Facebook, Twitter, and Myspace. However, when creating accounts on those websites you give plenty of personal information that is then stored in their data. Companies like Facebook can use and store your data and even sell it to other companies to show Ad's on their website's that you may be interested in. While this is all nice and well, I personally like to now how my information is being used and I'm sure the rest of the United States would agree. Slowly, our 'personal' information isn't becoming personal at all.
In Europe, laws give people the opportunity to know what data companies have about them, but that is not the case in the United States. However, it should be, and I petition the US to do so.
