create legislation that all health insurance and pharmaceutical companies become non-profit organizations.

Medical insurance companies make profits by denying necessary and lifesaving treatments and tests to patients. The more proceedures they deny, the bigger their bottom line and the larger the corporate salaries. Pharmaceutical companies charge horrific amounts for drugs that cost next to nothing to manufacture. We cannot work toward obtaining equal and universal health care to all our American citizens unless we first regulate the insurance companies and drug companies. People's lives and health should not be the basis for making large profits. It will not solve the corruption in the health care industry but it is a first step.
