It is reprehensible that families who hold false or uneducated beliefs concerning the supposed dangers of vaccination have caused a resurgence of a disease we had eradicated from our country. There is no viable reason to have a loophole for vaccination. It is a necessary and safe step to ensure the health and wellbeing of our population, including protecting the elderly and children too young to be inoculated. The only dissension toward vaccination is based upon falsehood, and people who decide to not vaccinate their children should be found criminally negligent, just as they would if they were not feeding or clothing their child.
