This country has been held hostage by the likes of Grover Norquist and his tax pledge which has stifled the ability of both parties to seek a compromise on issues. This is just one example. Imagine how many other lobbyists push and persuade our political representatives into voting for or against issues that do not represent their constituency. Barriers and restrictions should include lobbyist contact reports. Every conversation with a lobbyist should be reported whether or not it included money and every american should have access to that information on the representatives website. Transparency in government has to start with the transparency of our politics.
