The current system of U.S. laws does not provide any means to consistently and systematically reevaluate laws to ensure they remain appropriate, worthwhile, and timely. Laws are often made due to pressing crisis or to respond to a hot-button issue which can result in undue compromise and poor solutions to important topics. Requiring Congress to reaffirm laws after 10 years from their inception will better enable laws to be viewed in terms of areas of improvement and ensure laws made to address short-term problems do not remain active.
