create legislation requiring non-governmental organizations to publish on the internet their donation spending practices

Created by T.P. on March 08, 2013

The need for this petition comes from the prevalence and motivational power of propaganda-based fundraising efforts from organizations such as Invisible Children, and their Kony 2012 campaign. NGOs should be required to publish, in non-technical terms and free of jargon, the spending practices they hold regarding donations. This would include breakdowns of donation spending into
a) percentage used for operations and management
b) percentage used for advertisement of the NGO's activities
c) percentage used for salaries and volunteer-related costs (housing, catering, clothing, training)
d) percentage used for the execution of the actual mission statement of the NGO

The website address for this information should be clearly included on the NGO's main website, as well as on TV advertisements
