Sharks are essential to a healthy oceanic habitat. The Discovery Channel's "Shark Week" has attempted to reinforce that fact yearly since 1988. Millions of viewers around the nation learn about the various types of predators lurking beneath the surface of the ocean. Recently in the United States this has caused a negative effect, as people have become infatuated not just with the shark, but the idea of eating shark meat. Many of these sharks are not only endangered, but at a risk for extinction. For the future generations and natural balance of our oceans, let us conserve and protect this amazing creature by outlawing the sale and distribution of shark meat.
