We the people ask the federal government to Propose a new Administration policy:

Create a licensing system for journalists to allow consumers to discern who is reporting news and who is giving opinion.

Created by C.G. on June 26, 2016

Under consumer protection, we want to create a license for journalists. They will be peer reviewed just as lawyers have the Bar, and doctors have the AMA. Consumers will be allowed to file a complaint which will be tracked. Should a journalist violate their oath, their license may be suspended or revoked. In addition, news producers and other members of the news industry may be required to hold a license. Should a journalist lose their license, they will no longer be allowed to present themselves as a member, until suspension is lifted. This will allow consumers to trust that the journalist is following strict guidelines set forth by the industry and governing body.
