We the undersigned respectfully petition the Obama Administration to create a mandatory requirement for both public and private schools to teach Civics defined as "The study of the rights and duties of citizenship."
We posit that knowledge of the U.S. Constitution is the ultimate strength of our government, which is of the people and by the people, and that the Constitution not only informs citizens of their rights, but also the limits of the government's power and the system of checks and balances created to ensure that these limits will be obeyed.
