Create a means for a state to force its representatives to take a certain stand on issues.

Created by J.R. on September 24, 2011

This is inspired by the recent debacle our politicians pulled on us regarding the debt ceiling. If we had some way to have a state-wide election (or some other means) to force our politicians to have voted a certain way on that bill, we could have ended that ridiculous game of chicken before we were looked at as a huge joke in the world.

This would also provide an effective means to prevent corruption in our government: if the people can force their politician to not vote in such a way that only benefits him/her, then we'd have a much less corrupt system. I'm certain there are many other cases of our politicians voting one way (against the majority of the population THEY ARE REPRESENTING) to push forward their own agenda that people take issue with, and this would help stop that.
