The United States Congress and Senate have gone from being an avenue upon which American citizens can enter into public service for love and betterment of their country, to a cottage industry that no longer reflects or serves the needs of the American people.
From the government shutdown of 2013 - where members of congress refused to do their jobs yet continued to collect paychecks - to not neglecting the views of their constituents to pursue an agenda set by lobbyists and large corporations, our current Congress has shown that it does not have the people's best interests in mind, but merely their own.
We need a mechanism by which ineffective and problematic members of congress can be removed from office during their term, in order to give control back to the people - where it belongs.
