The current National Passenger Rail System, known as Amtrak, today operates with locomotives over 10 years old and cars that are even older than that, some still dating back to the 1950's. Unlike the European Countries, who continue to bring vast improvements to their rail infrastructure, Amtrak relies mostly on trackage that belongs to private companies, and are more often than not, this leads to delayed trains.
Why not bring our Rail Network into the 21st century outside the Northeast Corridor, and promote a National High Speed Rail to reduce congestion on our National Interstate system, At the same time, why not promote rail in the cities of our nation for Commuters as well, like those systems in New York, Washington D.C., Philadelphia, Boston, Miami, Chicago and L.A.
