In America, we have seen a problem with expectant mothers using harmful substances. Babies born with complications as a result of their mother using narcotics during their pregnancy is becoming growing problem. However, as of 2010, only 19 states had drug treatment programs for expectant mothers, and only 9 of which gave these women priority access. This is a huge problem because pregnant women who struggle with drug use should have the same opportunities as those who are not pregnant. This petition aims to draw attention to this lack of resources and hopes to encourage the implementation of more treatment centers. Help expectant mothers who struggle with drug use receive the treatment and therapy they need before their children are harmed or are taken away from their mothers and families.
