Creating a municipal law enforcement officers to protect our children will help the overwhelmed state police officers from their daily responsibilities and will significantly help on response time on emergencies such as the tragedy occurred in Sandy Hook, CT, and incidents that require immediate intervention. On this recent tragedy in Sandy Hook, CT, it was very clear that locked doors, metal detectors, and security guards did not keep children safe. Armed security guards, protecting our schools is great, but they do not have power of arrest. This municipal force could be filled primarily by our veterans from the armed military forces, due to their experience and training as well as any other well qualified citizen. The safety of our children is paramount. They are our future.
