Create a National Bacon Appreciation Day.

Created by B.Z. on January 24, 2013

There is already an unofficial International Bacon Day which is celebrated in the United States and Canada on the Saturday before Labor Day (1st Monday of September) and rename it National Bacon Appreciation Day. The following petition proposes that this holiday should be recognized as an official holiday. The modern American people have embraced bacon as one of the most American food products available. On National Bacon Appreciation Day, Americans can take a step back from their everyday lives to engage in picnics, festivals or simple family dinners that incorporate bacon into the meals. Possible benefits to the American economy include increased traffic in restaurants offering special bacon entrees and the proliferation of festivals designed to celebrate this national holiday.
