We have many national holidays. It would be a wonderful step to dedicate a day not to one race, or sex, not to Presidents (sorry President Obama) but to all heroes. Can you see school children looking for heroes in history, in their own lives, in their community...news reports on people who've done something great for their town...or given up a life saving a platoon?
With so many people acting in self-interest, and sensational stories of gun-toting broken people gunning down children; we would be better served to spend a little time celebrating our local and national heroes and perhaps convincing kids that the kind of celebrity they need and want should come from acting noble, good, generous, courageous--Heroic.
