Creation of a National Employment Registry that would require both employers and separated workers to report and register. This reporting function would provide an accurate unemployment figure in the U.S. and create a database of available workers for hire. Proper execution of this program would require combined efforts of employers, the unemployed/underemployed, the Dept. of Labor, the IRS, the Census Bureau, and possibly others. By combining, streamlining, and utilizing technology for reporting to this Registry, long term cost savings for all employers and government departments would be experienced and repetitious employer reporting eliminated. Separated workers would have one place to register their skillsets, experience, education, and availability for employment.
