This petition is a citizen's request to enact a national policy regarding the buyback of handguns and tactical firearms that serve no purpose in a societal context. Funds for this legislation would be provided by grants and possibly tax credits for individuals who turn into the government qualifying firearms.
Citizens turning in excess firearms would be subjected to no questioning from proper authorities as to the legal ownership of said weapons.
In effort to reduce the glut of weapons held illegally, the purchase price by the government should exceed the actual value of the firearm so as to encourage citizens to relinquish their firearms.
