To reduce costs, increase accuracy of information, improve healthcare treatment and reduce billing problems, a healthcare card would give providers an accurate health history, reduce duplication of tests, reduce errors, provide an accurate record of medications and reduce the billing burden on providers and patients. Many first world countries have a similar card that provides these benefits and greatly reduces costs. This is not an privacy issue. Insurance companies and providers already have this information although it is rarely complete, up to date and accurate plus very time consuming and therefore costly. The goal is for better medical treatment at a lower cost, creating more sustainable healthcare.
