Create a national holiday for election day to increase voter turnout.

Having a national holiday on the day that is the most important to Americans, election day, could increase the voter turnout for the most important elections we have as a country: presidential, senatorial, congressional, etc. This past presidential election, voter turnout was slightly less than 60%. That means that more than 40% of Americans didn't get their voices heard in the most important election this country has ever had. If election day were to be made a national holiday, then that would relieve some of the stress at the voting polls, as the lines would not have to be so long, or for people to be frustrated that they have to work around their work schedules, and would allow those that work multiple jobs to also get their voices heard.
