Voting is a cornerstone of our democracy, and there should be no obstacles preventing citizens in casting their votes. One of these main obstacles confronting American voters is the inability to go to polling stations on election day because of work or school obligations. Americans who can't afford to take time from work to vote shouldn't have one of their greatest rights of citizenship withheld from them. Making election day a national holiday would enable millions more Americans to make it to the polls, while also ensuring that our democracy remains truly representative.
This is a nonpartisan petition that every American who believes in the ideology of democracy should support.
Mr. President, please help in making Republic Day a national holiday.
