On January 28, 1986, the world suffered a horrific blow when the space shuttle Challenger exploded on live television in front of millions of people world wide. On that day, we lost the first teacher in space, Christa McAuliffe, of Concord N.H. along with six other astronauts.
On the 30th Anniversary of the Challenger's explosion, we, the Concord High School Class of 1986, feel it is time to honor Christa and the other astronauts for their ultimate sacrifice.
Her motto was "I touch the future, I teach."
We feel that a National Holiday should be established so that we never forget the sacrifice of these brave souls.
