Create a national holiday for the non-birth parent of a same-sex couple with children.

This petition is for the creation of a national holiday, similar to Mothers' or Fathers' Day, in celebration of the non-birth parent of a same-sex couple. Being the child of such a couple, my sister and I have always felt awkward when Fathers' Day would roll around because we were never sure if we were supposed to buy flowers for our other parent, even though she is not our father. There is really no day of appreciation for my mother's partner, or any child's same-sex parent's partner. I believe such a holiday is necessary because simply having a "Mothers'" or "Fathers'" Day excludes, not only the non-biological parent, but also the children themselves from celebrating their family, just as any other child does.
