We, the signatories of this petition, feel that the United States government needs to create a National Holiday that recognizes those currently serving in the US Armed Forces.
The United States has created Memorial Day for remembering the men and women who died while serving in the US Armed Forces.
The United States has created Veterans Day to honor those who have served in the US Armed Forces.
Those brave men and women who currently serve in the US Armed Forces are asked to share one of these holidays. This is unfair. Those who sacrificed in the past are honored and remembered, but the same respect should be paid to the men and women who are currently making the sacrifice, currently fighting the wars, currently paying the price.
They shouldn't have to wait to be recognized.
