create a national internet broadband infrastructure.

Created by J.S. on March 07, 2013

The US has some of the weakest broadband internet of any developed country in the world, and yet when pressed, telecommunications companies insist we have all we need. These companies resist every effort to improve infrastructure, even with the tax breaks and outright grants given to them since the 1980's.

A national broadband infrastructure could be the next Rural Electrification Project; bringing what's now a necessary utility at a reasonable price - and a world-class speed - to millions of Americans. Building this would create jobs, and small businesses could use it to grow large.

Corporations have shown little to no interest in modernizing the broadband infrastructure, so it’s time for the government to take the lead.
