Create a national law that makes recycling mandatory and to set a new standard for efficient waste collection.

Created by S.B. on February 15, 2013

Although we have the EPA to look over certain waste issues pertaining to the safety and health of society, recycling legislation is mostly down within state and city government.

We pride ourselves for being on the cutting edge of technology and innovation, yet the U.S. is not even in the top 5 for recycling percentage rates. There are so many plastics and paper and metals ending up in landfills and the oceans, when these could all be recycled. Why throw out resources that were manufactured when we could repurpose them?

Recycling is also cheaper in the long run and may even prove to be a lucrative business.

This isn't just an environment issue, it's a human issue that should have a national law to set the standard, proving we do care about the earth and ourselves.
