The current system of firearms licensing/permits does not allow a legally registered individual to travel from state to state without acquiring a separate license/permit from the states the person intends to travel to. Each state has established its own protocol for firearms registration and certain states have opted to recognize the issuance of other states, while some states do not recognize the license/permit from any state.
This petition recommends the Federal Government establish a National Firearms Registration that would allow any properly licensed individual to travel within the USA without obtaining a license/permit from their destination state. This should be an optional program so that each state can retain its own license/permit program should it desire to do so.
