Millions of recent college graduates are faced with insurmountable debt created by student loans. While new grad programs shrink so does the outlook on steady work in one's chosen field. Obtaining the skills thru experience to compete in the today's job market are few and in between.Currently the state of California offers loan forgiveness programs to nursing graduates who agree to work in undeserved areas for a minimum of two years. Many graduates could be forgiven of their loans if they are contracted to work in undeserved communities throughout the US in the areas of medical/mental health, social work, teaching, etc. Loan forgiveness programs would help those in need while giving recent graduates life changing experiences and skills needed in an extremely competitive market.
