Currently, legislators disagree over the United States' budget: they do not see raising revenue through taxes as part of the solution. We need alternative methods of raising revenue without the stigma associated with taxes.
A national lottery could be the solution.
According to the North American Association of State and Provincial Lotteries, in 2012, U.S. lotteries raised $78 billion. Since 1964, lotteries in 43 states raised over $200 billion.
Lotteries are a popular way to fund important programs. Higher income from a federal lottery would result in larger cash prizes and encourage participation. States that wish may opt out of lottery sales.
If you agree about creating a national lottery to fund needed programs, please support this petition.
