For every $1 spent on the National Lottery scratch cards:
• .50 cents is given back to the draw as prize money;
• .23 cents is given to the National Lottery Distribution Fund to be transferred to charities;
• .12 cents is allocated to Lottery Tax (Betting Duties) or to the Government in Lottery duty to pay off the National Debt;
• .05 cents is retained by the private company that runs the National Lottery scratch card distribution and design;
• .05 cents is saved for for future lottery draws and instant win scratch card game
• .05 cents is kept by the retailer
