Create a national oil and gas company to compete with private industry

The American people have no option but to purchase all of their oil and gas from private sources. Private companies have been permitted to rob this nation of its oil wealth since their inception, amassing trillions of dollars in revenue. They are also held less accountable for damages when they incite natural disasters. A national oil and gas industry or "US Oil" wherein the people could make purchases directly from the government, would reduce the need for higher taxes, help balance the budget and create a stronger dollar. In this manner, 100% of the oil revenue purchased by citizens at gas pumps nationwide would be used to directly fund struggling programs like Medicare, social security, and other social programs. We petition the government to take up this endeavor.
