Create a National opt-out policy instead of a state by state opt-in policy for Organ donation and education.

Created by D.J. on March 20, 2013

Over 177,000 people are on the National organ waiting list. Of these, about 17 die each day because the organ they needed wasn't available.
Two actions would improve this situation:
1. Require education about organ donations beginning in Middle School. Goal-to make organ donation the norm.
2. Once we have educated our students and families, switch from a state by state system of becoming an organ donor (signing your driver's license) to a national opt-out program. This would put everyone in the organ donation pool unless they took the steps to opt-out.
Over time we would get to the point where no one had to die while waiting for an organ donation.
