Clear and easy identification of uniformed officers is essential to the civil liberties of U.S. citizens. Badges with identification numbers must be displayed while serving the public. These badges can be hard to read or easily hidden often causing observers no option but to ask an officer to identify themselves which may interfere with that officer doing their job.
This petition asks the President to create a national standard for police uniforms where the badge numbers be displayed consistent with NFL standards. They should be printed in contrasting color to the uniform, across the back and on the upper arms of all shirts, jackets, ponchos, or other coverings.
