I am 17 years old and have recently done my Eagle Project for Boy Scouts. For it, I collected American flags that were old, worn and faded in order to retire them in the correct manner. During the course of it, I came across flags that were made on materials that resembled tissue paper and nylon, resulting in flags that tore easily and whose colors were not as vibrant as they should be. Considering the lives lost to protect everything that the flags stands for, this is unacceptable. We ask the Obama Administration to create a national standard for the manufacturing of our nation flag is to be made with 100% cotton. This will ensure the every flag will be made to last and have the bright colors it should have.
