Currently many states have no standard for the presence of silica dust in ambient air. Due to the increase in frac sand mining and the use of silica sand in the fracking process a growing number of populations are exposed to the dangers of silica dust. Silica sand expose has long been know to cause a serious condition called Silicosis. It is time to establish a national standard to regulate the presence of silica dust in ambient air in areas surrounding frac sand mines, washing facilities, transfer facilities and fracking drilling wells.
