Create a national "Truth Commission" to investigate police use of force and insure constitutional rights are respected.

Created by J.B. on January 17, 2013

This petition calls for the reform of the common practice to have police investigate themselves in matters concerning the use of force (deadly or not) and the infringement of constitutional rights. The problem now is that police can fall into a code of silence, and District Attorneys who work closely with officers are reluctant to upset these relationships. Additionally, they do not want to put voter or police union support at risk.

There needs to be a separate and un-bias investigative commission at the national level to establish a process of checks and balances in law enforcement. If necessary they will pursue any disciplinary action or criminal charges against officers or departments. This will help restore trust and respect between our police forces and the citizens they protect.
