We petition the Obama administration and lawmakers in congress alike to come together and pass legislation to create a national holiday on election day. Voting on Tuesday no longer makes sense in modern times with the average work week schedule. Many working Americans do not have time between 7a.m. and 7p.m. to get to their polling station and cast their ballot. The United States has one of the lowest voter turnout rates in the world ranking 138th out of 172 nations. While most other countries hold their elections on Saturday's and Sunday's, America is still lagging behind. Let's improve American democracy one step at a time.
